A Kenner Creation in Rogue One?

While still processing through the information overload that was last weekend's Star Wars Celebration Europe London, we think we have happened across what appears to be an Imperial Troop Transport in Rogue One.  Appearing in one brief blink-and-you-miss-it scene in the sizzle reel from the Rogue One Panel, a couple of familiar shapes appear next to an explosion of Stormtroopers.  The shapes are more reminiscent of the modern form of the ITT which is present in the Star Wars Rebels animated series and who share this same timeframe with Rogue One. Now it goes without saying that if this is indeed an ITT, vintage collectors will enjoy seeing one of Kenner's first original creations make it to into a Star Wars film proper. For more background on the [...]

37 Years of Imperial Troop Transport History & Restoration

Our friends over at RetroBlasting have released their latest vintage Kenner Star Wars vehicle restoration video which focuses on one of the toy line's very first Expanded Universe creations, the Imperial Troop Transport. Originally released in 1979, the ITT included an electric internal mini-record which played six "original Star Wars sounds" upon pressing the six orange button surrounding the cannon.  This feature tends to break down over time and for those wanting to hear R2-D2 Beeps, Stormtrooper stun blasts and the ITT's engine will want to pay close attention to this restoration. ITT Restoration Part 2 Now what makes this restoration project even of greater significance is that the specific vehicle undergoing the knife held by Michael's very capable hands belongs to our good friend and [...]

Vintage Star Wars Action Figure Newspaper Ads Kickstarter Book

Here's a big heads up for fans of both vintage Kenner action figures and newspaper Star Wars nostalgia. Collect These Figures and Accessories: An Unofficial Look at Star Wars Newspaper Ads, 1977 to 1986 is unlike the average Kickstarter project as it is 100% finished already. The purpose of this crowdfund is simply to send the book to the printers. As of press time, the book was already a fifth of the way to being funded with 10 days still left to go. [...]

New Collecting Resource Checklist – Large Scale Action Figures

Courtsey of Jason Luttrull In 1978, Kenner not only released one of the most impactful toy lines of the century with their 3 3/4" line of action figures, but also released a small line of Large Scale Action Figures which appealed to the collectors of yesteryear who grew up collecting 12" GI Joe figures. The Star Wars line featured 11 characters with the Droids both showing up as JC Penney exclusives in '78 before being released everywhere in '79.  Most international affiliates of Kenner who created product typically released identical toys with the exception of Lily Ledy.  Not only did they release all new sculpts of each character but they also offered an Artoo that was simply an enlargement of the original 3 3/4" Artoo and [...]
