We have updated Target’s Exclusive 12″ 3-pack featuring droids from The Force Awakens to our 12″ Action Figure Hero Series Checklist page. This set which was made available a few days prior to last week’s release of Episode VII on Blu-ray/DVD is fantastic due solely to Goldenrod. C-3PO has not only one of the best sculpts for a Hasbro 12″ figure to date but a terrific paint job that could only be outdone with vac-metalizing.
Speaking of 3PO, today is long-delayed day where we find out exactly why he has a red arm in TFA in Marvel Comic’s Star Wars Special: C-3PO (Journey to The Force Awakens) #1. This issue will ship with a 3PO Action Figure Variant cover and an exclusive version from Wonderland Comics featuring a 3-pack mailer version.
The R0 in this set is the correct size and has a fairly screen accurate deco with the exception of the top of his dome. The source material may not have been available or Hasbro may have been in a rush but the top four panels are missing from his dome.
Despite his well-deserved superstar status, BB-8 is the least exciting from this set as he’s a bit too shiny for a droid that also comes with Jakku dirt deco. The other misstep for this prototype Astromech droid is when his appendages are attached they stick off of the body which ruins the round ascetic.
This will not be the last time we’ll be getting this droid as he will be reissued individually with different accessories and a clean paint app.
Now while we are on the topic of 12″ figures, our friend Gus Lopez has just released an article on starwars.com all about the lost waves of The Empire Strikes Back figures and outfits we never got.
