Last week (yes, we are playing catch-up) Hasbro's latest crowdfunding Star Wars project, the Black Series Rancor, failed to fund. The HasLab ended last Monday night and the cast of Toy Anxiety was there to report the live on the numbers. A lot of fun was had you can check out the whole video which kicks off 45 minutes before the end of the campaign below. Thanks again to Yes Have Some for the invite and make sure to subscribe to their channel and Jay's over at Geek. Dad. Life.!
As of this writing, we are under 24 hours left for fans to back the HasLab Black Series 6" Rancor! This crowdfunding campaign is currently at 62% funded which is unprecedented for a Star Wars HasLab. Both its predecessors, the Sail Barge and the Razor Crest funded before the final day. This particular project has seen some setbacks due to the choice of stretch goals not connecting with collectors and some sites and groups actively campaigning against the beast due to a number of reasons. Some have also argued that the competition of the Ghostbusters and GI Joe HasLabs have slowed the success of the Star Wars project especially as all three are taking place during the holiday season when wallets are tight. Hasbro [...]
This past Friday, Hasbro Pulse hosted a special Fan First Friday to announce the final two tiers of their current HasLab Black Series Rancor. The tiers include two carded 6" figures. The first, Salacious Crumb is a modern upscale of the 3 3/4" SDCC exclusive carded Crumb that was part of the first version of The Vintage Collection, and the second is a newly sculpted Jedi Luke on a Power of the Force card back with coin. Also shown during the Livestream was the first look at a painted version of the Rancor. Hasbro has provided us official images and press releases below: Tier 3 Unlock: 16,000 Backers Needed Star Wars The Black Series Salacious B. Crumb Mini This Kowakian monkey-lizard may [...]
This past week while a majority of the Yes Have Some cast was off celebrating the release and attending the world premiere of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Jake was asked to join host Ryan Doell as well as Jay Key from YHS on Monster Island and Jay from Geek. Dad. Life. in a special "bootleg" edition of Toy Anxiety. Ryan Doell's Bootleg Toy Anxiety With YHS recovering from the world premeire of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Ryan has assembled a rag-tag team (or a suicide squad) of renegade toy-dudes to tackle the weekly toy stress! Straight outta the flea market...it's Ryan Doell and his henchmen, the guy from Geek. Dad. Life. and Fake Jake! It's going to be a clusterf*ck for the ages! We don't need name brands, [...]
This morning Jake Stevens was able to sit down with members of the Star Wars Brand Team at Hasbro, Patrick Schneider, and Chris Reiff. He was joined by other fansites such as SWTVC, Bossk's Bounty, Bantha Skull, Fly Guy, and Star Wars The Black Series from Instagram. The purpose of the quarterly Q&A is to ask questions for readers, followers and fellow fans about the current products and the recent Hasbro Pulse Con '21 reveals. Each of our questions can from the fans and thanks again to you all for sending them in and to Hasbro for taking the time to answer them (when they can)!
One week ago, the Star Wars Brand Team at Hasbro officially launched their third crowdfunding project, The Rancor. Just as we have done in the past with both the Sail Barge and the Razor Crest, we are keeping close track of the project's momentum and hopefully success. What makes this project different from its Star Wars predecessors is both that it is the first Star Wars HasLab in 6" scale and it is running alongside not one but two other HasLab projects. To gauge whether having competing HasLabs is a factor, we are charting the progress of all three current projects and comparing them to both the barge and Razor Crest. We would assume there is some carry-over between collectors and brands (we for example [...]
This past weekend Hasbro hosted their second live Hasbro Pulse Con online event. During the first day of the Livestream, the Star Wars Brand team shared numerous reveals in both The Black Series and The Vintage Collection as well as launching the next Star Wars HasLab, a Black Series Rancor. We are still processing all of the reveals as well as those from the Hasbro Pulse Premium Member event "1027" and the Bring Home the Bounty presells for week 3 of the campaign. In the meantime, Hasbro has provided us with the official press release and images for each of the reveals. STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES FORCE FX ELITE LIGHTSABER (HASBRO/Age 14 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $264.99/Available: Fall 2022) Combining advanced LEDs and [...]
This week Hasbro and i09 debuted the latest figure from The Mandalorian. "This Stormtrooper appeared in season two’s Chapter 14, “The Tragedy”, in which Moff Gideon’s remnant forces assaulted Din Djarin, Boba Fett, and Fennec Shand on the planet Tython in order to capture poor little Grogu while he hung out trying to Force-link with any Jedi out there in the big wide galaxy that could train him." This figure is a smart repaint of the Black Series Stormtrooper mold and something that is exciting as it is both a troop builder and a new entry into the Black Series character database. This figure went up for presale on Amazon as it is an exclusive and it is currently sold out and unavailable. Check back as [...]
Yesterday Hasbro shared the next Gaming Greats figure coming to GameStop, Republic Commando Boss! This figure comes from the Republic Commando game which debuted in 2005. Now as each soldier wore nearly the same armor, it is a good bet that this buck will be reused for additional releases of Delta Squad and perhaps characters from the first season of The Bad Batch. These figures have been released a few times before in the 3 3/4" scale first during The Saga Collection and then later during the Shadows of the Dark Side series which ran congruently to The Clone Wars line. This figure went up for the pre-order this morning and Hasbro has sent over the official press release and images which is as follows: [...]
