12″ Boba joins Lights! Camera! Action (Figures)!

A huge thanks to our friend and resident '80s movie expert Dan Geister as he has passed on our lastest update to our Lights! Camera! Action (Figures)! entry. In the 1983 film, High School U.S.A., Michael J. Fox is a high schooler who wants to date a popular girl. As you can see from the image above, Kenner's 12" Large Action Figure Boba Fett makes a cameo sitting about a desk. List Boba Fett was first released in 1979 prior to his film debut in May of 1980. He was then re-released in 1980 in The Empire Strikes Back packaging once the film was released. For more appearances of Star Wars action figures in films and television, check out our Lights! Camera! Action (Figures)! in [...]

Vintage Toys on The Goldbergs

On last week's episode of The Goldbergs, the Goldberg children were threatened with having some of their favorite toys given away to their cousin Gleb. Among the amazing haul of '80s toys were some vintage Star Wars, He-Man, Transformers, and GI Joe items to name a few. When it comes to Star Wars, the following pieces were clearly visible from the vintage Kenner line: Twin-Pod Cloud Car "Battle Damaged" X-Wing Fighter Scout Walker Vehicle Land Speeder Land of the Jawas Action Playset This seventeenth episode of Season 6 plays up a Perfect Strangers rift and is aptly titled "Our Perfect Strangers" and debuted on February 27th, 2019. Erica, Barry and Adam are not happy when their distant relative Gleb visits from Russia, until they realize he can make their [...]

Solo Toys Featured on The Simpsons

A big thanks to @ThatAndrewWard for the heads-up about this appearance of Star Wars toys on The Simpsons! This appeared on Season 30's thirteenth episode "I'm Dancing as Fat as I Can" which debuted on February 10th. Homer tries to make amends for binging his and Marge's favorite show without her; Bart prepares for "Krusty's Holiday Trample". Now this is not the first time Star Wars toys have appeared in the long-running series. In Season 6, Ralph displayed his figures in "Lisa's Rival" in 1994. And in Season 13, The Comic Book Guy's bedroom was filled with Kenner figures as well.   With 30 seasons of animation, there are more than likely more appearances and if you are aware of others, please let us know [...]

2005’s Sydney White’s Kenner Figures

One of our favorite pastimes beyond collecting Star Wars action figures is hunting down their various appearances in the media (which we collect in our Lights! Camera! Action (Figure)! database). This week we have recently discovered the 2005 PG-13 teen comedy starring Amanda Bynes, Sydney White, features a smattering of Kenner action figures. The modern telling of Cinderella told through college pledges includes a band of college misfits who, when playing cards, gamble with action figures. One of the lines featured prominently on the card table are vintage Star Wars figures. In addition to a carded The Power of the Force Endor Luke, various other figures can be seen including a mail away vintage Cobra Commander and a pair of Jedi from Hasbro's Unleashed Battle Packs series. Other vintage Kenner figures [...]

Hasbro Toys Awaken on SNL & Kimmel

With just a few days left before The Force Awakens debuts in theaters, it makes perfect sense that Hasbro toys are popping up in the media in various places. On November 23rd, Jimmy Kimmel Live featured an entire special dedicated to The Force Awakens. During an interview with director JJ Abrams, Kimmel showed off two custom figures he made for the occasion: JJ as Han Solo and Jimmy as Princess Leia. Last night on Saturday Night Live, the sketch comedy show took Star Wars action figures to another level by making their own Hasbro commercial emphasizing the toys are not just meant for children. To see the commercial sketch head to our Facebook page where we have uploaded the entire skit. Update - [...]

Critters, Trekkies and Dinosaurs – Filmography Updated

As we head into the second half of the year (which will result in a new Star Wars film!!!!) we are sure Star Wars and its many collectibles will soon become more visible throughout all forms of media. To this end we will be keeping an eye on Star Wars-inclusive television and motion pictures in order to continue to add to our action figure filmography. Today we have a couple of updates to add to our Lights! Camera! Action (Figures)! database with one being so blatantly absent we found ourselves laughing quite a bit upon realizing its absence. Thanks to our co-hosts from Galaxy of Toys Podcast Jason pointed out a slick silver custom Y-Wing in Critters and Ryan a Kenner Snowspeeder in Jurassic World. Trekkies surprisingly enough stars [...]

Darth Vader Action Figures + Butts = SNL

Star Wars action figures just show up in strangest of places!  Louis CK's most recent hosting of Saturday Night Live came with a most unexpected appearance of our favorite Dark Lord of the Sith from The Saga Collection. Entitled "Darth Vader Action Figure", this digital short is odd to say the least, but had a few good lines, like our favorite, "I'm a lady, but there could be a General Grievous!" You can check it out for yourself at NBC.com and if you get inspired to watch more figures on screen this Spring Break, make sure to check out our ever growing Star Wars action figure filmography "Lights! Camera! Action (Figures)!" And remember, "It's better to know."

Mythbusters begins 2014!

Last night's special Star Wars episode of Mythbusters, entitled Star Wars: Revenge of the Myth, gave us both our first new Star Wars media of the new year but also our first addition to our section "Lights! Camera! Action (Figures)! " which is our expanding filmography of all Kenner and Hasbro Star Wars action figures on the small and big silver screens. The Mythbusters season opener set out to prove plausible or not three scenes from the Original Trilogy.  These included the Death Star chasm swing, the Ewok log vs AT-ST attack and if a Luke could have survived long enough within a Tauntaun for Han to build a shelter.  The latter of these was of course were The Vintage Collection Tauntaun appeared as [...]
