2015 Star Wars Toy Line Speculations

This past week we were invited by our friends at Jedibusiness.com to take part in some fun speculation about what we can expect for next year's action figure lines.  We were joined by a handful of well known longtime Star Wars collectors from across the web suchas: James Burns from JediNews.co.uk Arnie and Marjorie Carvalho from Star Wars Action News Corey from TheWolfpackPodcast.com Paul Harrison from JediTempleArchives.com Jayson Krebsbach from Yakface.com Gus Lopez from The Star Wars Collectors Archive.com Jason Luttrull from Galaxy of Toys Podcast and our own Jake Stevens of From4-LOMtoZuckuss.com The article includes a lot of great knowledge and educated guesses about the toy industry and will be an equally fun read once again in a year from now when The Force Awakens merch has been released . As an added bonus [...]

Countdown ’till The Force Awakens

Today Entertainment Weekly posted an exclusive with Lucasfilm to reveal the names of the characters from The Force Awakens teaser trailer. This seriously increased our anticipation for seeing these figures in plastic in the coming year. Now that these characters are being named we can only feel that they will be the ones (if any) featured at February's New York Toy Fair.  Either that or we could very well be seeing these as possible Sneak Preview wave of figures released sometime in the summer.  To see the rest of the images with captions which were presented in vintage Topps trading card style, head on over to EW.com. To add further to our excitement for the release of Episode VII we want to thank Tomas Lundholm from Leia's [...]

Marvel & Hasbro – Could There be More to Come?

Over the last week, we have been just thrilled to see some of the newest variant covers for Marvel's Star Wars #1.  The new series is set to debut in January with no less than 39 (and counting) different covers so far. It goes without saying that the one that has got us giddy with excitement was none other than last Friday's reveal of the "Action Figure Variant".  The amazing cover by artist John Tyler Christopher is a great tribute to Kenner's vintage packaging.  The image of the figure itself has more of a modern sensibility yet still retains the vintage (and most recently) 5 points of articulation. Our friend Michael over at Retroblasting was quick to jokingly point out that Luke has a screen accurate blue [...]

Rebels Figures: 10 and Counting

It took just about until Star Wars Rebels' mid-season break before most of the country was able to get their hands on many of the show's action figures and yet just as stores have filled their shelves we are already once again wanting more.  The small amount of actual Rebels figures available is a bit lacking. The first initial wave of Hasbro's Rebels-based line includes just 10 figures and 3 vehicles despite 12 carded figures, 5 Mission Series 2-packs, 1 exclusive and 6 vehicles shipping in the same assortments. The popularity of the animated series is very welcomed but a larger line of figures devoted to the new show would have been preferred over the numerous re-releases that have accompanied the line's debut. The Clone Wars series began with [...]

The Force Awakens Round-Up

What a great weekend for Star Wars fans! This holiday weekend brought the internet and some theaters goers the first official theatrical glimpse of the next film in the Star Wars saga, The Force Awakens.   Living near Seattle provided me with the possibility to see the teaser not only once but twice on the big screen and with both viewings brought different emotions about what was shown. The preview showed the familiar in unfamiliar ways. We were shown the food we love but it had a different taste; and yet that taste wasn't bad. Leading up to the viewings, which was made well known by director JJ Abrams himself, I made the decision to view it with pure and unbiased eyes by signing-off of social [...]

A 5POA Stormtrooper Glance

The recently released Saga Legends Rebels line has brought longtime collectors their newest version of a 5 Points of Articulation Stormtrooper.  This limited articulated line which has been met with apprehension from many modern collectors, is a worthy nod to a much simpler (but also then revolutionary) form of action figure. The original Stormtrooper was part of Kenner's first 12 figures released in 1978's Star Wars line and technically wasn't even a 5POA; it was a 4POA as Kenner molded the helmet as part of the torso. Kenner's next attempt, which we purposely did not feature above due to its number of POAs, was in 1995's The Power of the Force (POTF2) line and featured both a swivel head and waist upping its POA to six.  It appeared this [...]

The Imperial Troop Transport(er)/Cruiser

Thanks to StarWars-Figuren.com we now have the first boxed images of the new Imperial Troop Transport.  As long time collectors and fans will know, this marks the third version of this vehicle to appear as a Star Wars action figure vehicle. The first arrived in Kenner's 1978 Star Wars line as the "Imperial Troop Transporter".  The second was only a few years later as the "Imperial Cruiser" in 1980's The Empire Strikes Back Line. The first two versions share the same mold with some electronic and color changes but the newest version which made its television debut on the Star Wars Rebels episode "Fighter Flight" is a brand new sculpt which has been modified from Kenner's original design. This was announced to be released in January 2015. Until [...]
