Pre-New York Toy Fair Reveals

For those expecting reveals about upcoming Hasbro products this last week from the UK Toy Fair held in London, were sadly disappointed as practically nothing was officially announced. James Burns of Jedinews.co.uk did provide an update via the official Star Wars website: Hasbro — The future of the Black Series, both 3¾” and 6” lines, looks great and there will be a number of new figures coming in [...]

Manly Art’s Pimp2-D2

Artist Jason Chalker AKA"Manly Art" has created a very cool and unique vintage collectible: Pimp2-D2.  His new spin on R2-D2 is not a custom of the vintage figure but a newly cast mold in resin based off of the original droid.  As the package indicates (and more likely motivated by Lucasfilm intimidation) this is not a toy but a collectible.  Originally offered at last year's New York Comic-Con, Pimp2 was released online through The Manly Art Shop this past December.  The purple droid retailed for $50 but like most vintage-themed Star Wars items, proved to be very popular and is now sold out.
