Figure Thoughts: The Hero’s Journey of Episode VII

This week's massive Episode VII (spoiler) concept art leak got us thinking about the cyclical nature of Star Wars and how the next chapter will mirror what has been depicted in the past while making its own distinct mark on the Saga. With Star Wars Rebels' debut earlier this month, the "Hero's Journey" has begun anew.  This newest journey of Ezra Bridger's marks Star Wars' fourth time using this monomyth, with yet another on the horizon. We have seen two cinematic versions culminate in two vastly different ways; one who returns victorious and another who makes it out of the transformative abyss only to fail in completing his journey. First look at Vader from Rebels

NYCC ’15 Wrap Up Coverage

The reveals from New York Comic Con 2015 began as usual before the con even began. On Wednesday, Hasbro hosted their "'Twas the Night Before" party for the media. NYCC ’14 Press Release & Photos

Rebels Review: Mission Series – The Ghost (Toys ‘R’ Us Exclusive)

Our second Rebels Review focuses on Toys ‘R’ Us’ newest action figure exclusive.  Technically part of the Mission Series line which began in Hasbro’s recent Saga Legends line, this set defies some of the basic characteristics that have come to define a Mission Series set.  This set comes boxed and includes three figures, whereas previous non-exclusive sets have come packaged to be hung on pegs and only include two figures. This set also includes a gimmick which Hasbro has never done in its action figure line before. The package has a secondary title “Reveal the Rebels: Jedi Reveal” and includes a blacked-out window that includes a “Secret Exclusive Figure Inside”. Rebels Review: AT-DP (All Terrain Defense Pod)

Toys 'R' Us has followed Target's lead in resetting their toy aisles for the holiday season with a heavy Star Wars presence. Speculative Star Wars Rebels & Ep VII Figures

Last week's reveal of Toys 'R' Us' upcoming Star Wars Rebels Mission Series exclusive The Ghost, featuring a holographic Obi-Wan Kenobi, prompted us to revisit Dan Curto's leaked Rebels photo from earlier this year.  Now with the knowledge gained from Hasbro's San Diego Comic-Con presentation, we are fairly certain we can speculate about the numbering of and wave assortment of the upcoming Rebels figures. We know from online pre-sales that the first case available will include 12 different figures.  The first six being from the new animated series with the rest pulling from the previously released Saga Legends figures. Star Wars Rebels Fast Approaching

EBay and online stores are always a good indicator that new product is coming and this week Star Wars Rebels found a presence at both.  Multiple sites reported the first wave of Rebels vehicles appeared on eBay this week and some went for close to double the $25 MSR. Also up for pre-sale online now is the first wave of figures which consists of an impressive 12 different figures per case.  Now only half of the figures are new as the other six are repacks from the Saga Legends and Mission Series line. Star Wars Rebels at Toronto Fan Expo ’14

Our friend and Canadian correspondent Mike MacDonald reports in with his trip to this past weekend's Toronto Fan Expo 2014. I made the drive up the 401 this past Saturday with my family to Toronto Fan Expo.  The crowds were absolutely crazy, I’ve never seen such traffic at a con before.  I’m not sure what the hubbub was about this year that made it so crazy busy but I managed to squeeze through the crowd and make my way to both the LEGO and Star Wars Rebels booths to check things out.
