Star Wars action figures are awesome! More than just movie toys; they have been a staple in toy aisles for decades, become pop culture icons and are credited for jump-starting the collectability of action figure toys the world over. We here at From 4-LOM to Zuckuss appreciate what Lucasfilm, Kenner and Hasbro have created so much so that we have dedicated ourselves to covering all things Star Wars action figure related and that’s where you come in! We are seeking out those who share our passion, to share their thoughts and memories of playing with and collecting those amazing little figures from a galaxy far, far away. 4LOMKUSS: So Carl we instantly became entranced with your work upon discovering it via a Tweet from official Star Wars blogger/historian Tim [...]
Just over two weeks ago From 4-LOM to Zuckuss attended and presented at Seattle's Emerald City Comicon. Despite the con not having a huge Star Wars focus there was plenty of ways for fans to indulge in the Force. Prior to the convention we released our "Star Wars Guide to Emerald City Comicon" which detailed many of the Star Wars related panels and activities available at the con but even despite our research there were even more Star Wars fun to be had. The following is just some of the fun we had at the con. The Exhibitor Hall Like many cons the exhibitor sales floor contained a wide range of vintage and modern, under and over-priced and well loved to minty mint action figures. [...]
Not surprising news but still its nice to get a confirmation that the Star Wars Rebels line of action figures will be seeing some female additions. According to the May/June 2014 issue of Star Wars Insider, the upcoming animated series will include, "female protagonists Hera and Sabine." These ladies will round out the six main heroes of the series that have been revealed to date. In other Insider action figure news, the magazine is still running its offer of a free action figure with subscription. Although the publisher Titan shows Movie Heroes figures, some reports have surfaced online that subscribers have received The Vintage Collection figures instead. If you have recently subscribed in the US, Canda or the UK we would love to hear what [...]
In 2010, The Official GI Joe Collectors' Club offered a couple of exclusives at their annual International GI Joe Convention held that year in Providence, Rhode Island. One of the exclusives offered should look familiar to many long time Star Wars action figure collectors. The Red Shadows Secret Base, which was limited to only 500 pieces, was created from the 1997 The Power of the Force 2 Endor Attack playset. The Imperial's shield generator bunker was converted years later into a secret base for the terrorist group Red Shadows, a group which originally were the Cobra-like villains for the UK version of GI Joe; Action Force. The following photos are from Yojoe.com, the definitive site for all things GI Joe action figure related. Its [...]
To those who have ever read or watched any 'making of' or 'behind the scenes' content, its common knowledge that George Lucas, and all others who have had the chance to play in George's sandbox, did not create Star Wars in a vacuum. Star Wars instead is rooted in many things. From mythology to religion, from history to science fiction many aspects of humankind's stories and creations played a key factor in making Star Wars the primary mythology to come out of the 20th century. To no surprise, we here at From 4-LOM to Zuckuss are very interested in the influences that have made their way into the action figure line. Battlestar Galactica has impacted Star Wars in a couple of different ways. The first [...]
Even though Action Movie Kid apparently is not a fan of the new Saga Legends line, this family's home movies rock with a little dose of Hollywood magic! To check out more adventures of Action Movie Kid, click the pic below.
Star Wars action figures just show up in strangest of places! Louis CK's most recent hosting of Saturday Night Live came with a most unexpected appearance of our favorite Dark Lord of the Sith from The Saga Collection. Entitled "Darth Vader Action Figure", this digital short is odd to say the least, but had a few good lines, like our favorite, "I'm a lady, but there could be a General Grievous!" You can check it out for yourself at NBC.com and if you get inspired to watch more figures on screen this Spring Break, make sure to check out our ever growing Star Wars action figure filmography "Lights! Camera! Action (Figures)!" And remember, "It's better to know."
In case you missed it or weren't able to attend Emerald City Comicon last weekend, you can now watch our panel Star Wars Action Figures "Collect All 3000?!?" on Youtube thanks to Jason from Galaxy of Toys Podcast. The panel, which covered the history of Star Wars action figures, was jointly created with the expertise of four lifelong Star Wars collectors. Ryan Beise from Galaxy of Toys Podcast, Gus Lopez from The Star Wars Collectors Archive, Chris Bortz from JediBusiness.com and From 4-LOM to Zuckuss's very own Jake Stevens, spoke to a filled standing-room only hall where many were turned away due to capacity. Pictured above are the exclusive pins each panelist created for the ECCC event. A big thanks goes out to those who attended and to all [...]
