2019 – A Year in Review of Star Wars Action Figures

For Star Wars action figure collectors, 2019 will be a year that will stand out and be talked about for years to come. The final year of this decade has been an unusual one in the world of figure collecting. It has provided us historic toys while also altering 40-year-old traditions and the combination of the two has us entering a new decade uncertain about the future of the hobby, especially when it comes to certain scales. We'll begin our year in review by the various figure scales Hasbro now supports. By the Numbers When it comes to the numbers, there were about 200 figures released throughout 2019 and as you can see 3 3/4" figures outnumbered the amount of 6" figures released. The breakdown [...]

The Rise of Skywalker Figures

With yesterday's World Premiere from the "blue" carpet in Hollywood, The Rise of Skywalker has finally been released onto the world. While we await the public release of the film this Thursday, December 19th, we thought we would take a minute and highlight the figures released from the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga. For Episode IX, Hasbro chose, for the first time in 40-years, not to create a dedicated line for the latest Star Wars film. Because of this, fans have seen a drastic reduction in the number of figures available at the release of a new film. Hasbro has mentioned that they have had to hold up to 75% of their product back from retailers until after the film debut due to their spoiler nature. With just [...]

Hasbro’s The Child (AKA Baby Yoda)

Today, Hasbro finally put up for pre-sale what many collectors have been patiently waiting for; a Baby Yoda in 6" scale. The Black Series will, in May of 2020, add "The Child" to the popular line. The figure will be priced like the Porg accessory set from The Last Jedi and therefore we are assuming it will be in a smaller package and not a part of the normal numbered line. In addition, Hasbro announced The Bounty Collection which includes a set of 2.2" cutesy versions of the breakout star from The Mandalorian, an electronic plush doll and a 6.5" figure (which appears to something separate from Hasbro's typical 12" Hero line of figures). One scale obviously missing from today's announcement at this moment was [...]

German Comic Con Dortmund Reveals

In a surprise move, today at German Comic Con Dortmund Hasbro revealed a few new figures for both The Black Series and Galaxy of Adventures lines.  To be exact, two new 6" figures were revealed and four new Galaxy of Adventures figures. For the first time this year, no new 3 3/4" figures were announced. All of today's announcements are scheduled for Spring of next year. Just this last week, we managed to pick up Wave 2 of the Galaxy of Adventures figures, making these next four Wave 3. And if Wave 3 is anything like the third waves for the 3 3/4" lines of the recent past these could be incredibly difficult to find at first. But of course, only time will tell. Hasbro [...]

Mystery of the Value Figs

Since the release of The Force Awakens, Hasbro has quietly released a small series of 6" value figures in primarily international and discount store markets. These figures which we have profiled in the past, include around 4POA (points of articulation) and can be found between $6-8 each. These figures often do not receive much publicity and tend to be quietly released. Each movie released following TFA received a wave of figures and in some cases a few under scaled vehicles as well up through The Last Jedi...or so we thought. Recently new images have surfaced to show that a wave for Solo was indeed produced and more recently a new wave featuring new packaging has appeared as well. Thanks to Jayson over at Yakface.com we [...]

Playing “The Mandalorian” on Thanksgiving

Today is a day to give thanks and we are thankful for The Mandalorian and those who bring the show to life! As anyone who is active on social media or who likes to hang out at the watercooler on their breaks can tell you The Mandalorian is a huge hit not just with Star Wars fans but with viewing audiences overall. Reports have come out this week that the Disney+ show unseated (after 21 weeks) Stranger Things Season 3 as the most viewed streaming series. For those who have been watching the series, know that beyond Baby Yoda, there are numerous characters who collectors would love to see in plastic someday. While we wait for the first 3 3/4" figures from the show to drop [...]

Bestbuy’s 6″ Heavy Infantry Mandalorian

In an amazingly well-timed release by Hasbro, Bestbuy announced their next Mandalorian exclusive just a day after the character's screen debut. The latest 6" figure to join the slow buy steadily increasing line of figures based on the hit Disney+ series, is the Jon Favreau-voiced character in which Hasbro refers to as "Heavy Infantry Mandalorian." This character, based on Chapter 3's credits, is referred to Paz Vizla which is very close to one of Favreau's other famous characters from The Clone Wars series. In that series, he played a different aggressive blue-armored Mandalorian by the name of Pre Vizsla. The coincidence seems too uncanny not to be related. But regardless of the origin of the character, we are excited to be getting this version in [...]

Hasnotalent’s 3 3/4″ Blurrg = Happiness

This morning custom action figure designer @hasnotalent released a micro-run of his new 3 3/4" vintage-styled Blurrg creature. The beast which was limited to just 10 pieces sold out near instantly when it went up as a claim sale at 8 AM PST. This amazing digital sculpt not only includes a harness but an opening for an action figure to ride to replicate the technique Kenner used in the 70s and 80s. As the headline of this article states, this creature makes us very happy. Not only because we had the speed of a Jedi in claiming one this morning but we are huge fans of all things related to The Mandalorian and when it comes to the 3 3/4" line, the show has only [...]
