Marvel Taps Hasbro for Comic Art

This past week Starwars.com announced a new limited series starring the Dark Lord of Sith. Star Wars: Darth Vader - Dark Visions, which begins in March of next year, includes a cover image of Vader mounted atop a creature and brandishing his lightsaber and an Imperial shield. What is exciting about this art is his shield featuring the Imperial cog which was done by Hasbro in 2005. During their Revenge of the Sith line, Hasbro introduced a very short-lived series, geared to younger kids, called Force Battlers. These 6"ish figures, were more stylized in design and included action features. The first Darth Vader released in this line included the Imperial shield which now appears to be possibly headed for official Star Wars canon if seen [...]

Remembering ROTS & Midnight Madness 10 Years Later

"Last week Jedi Temple Archives featured an article on the 10th anniversary of the Midnight Madness sales that accompanied the release of Revenge of the Sith back in 2005. And after reading a second post from Jesse Tschopp, I began thinking about this big day in Star Wars collecting history too." "For my family this was really the first Star Wars related event that we actually did as a family. Of course I was the catalyst for this outing but my then 7 year old son was also beginning to amass a pretty decent amount of action figures (yes he wanted them, I wasn't forcing him!).   My then 10 year old daughter who up until then wasn't much into Star Wars, was excited about the [...]

Kenobi’s The Vintage Collection Jedi Starfighter Varriation

Prior to the action figure drought (which ran from mid 2012 to mid 2013) Star Wars action figures were being released fast and furious through multiple lines such as Movie Heroes, The Clone Wars and The Vintage Collection.  With so many releases it was easy to fall behind and become fatigued with the amount of reissues Hasbro was providing.  The Vintage Collection's Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter from the opening of Episode III's Battle of Coruscant sequence was released prior to the drought with little fanfare as most collector's already had this vehicle and preferred their "vintage" vehicles to be from the Original Trilogy.  So Obi-Wan's Jedi Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor sat on Toys 'R' Us shelves and eventually turned up at discount stores such as Tuesday Mornings. Now [...]

The Action Figure History of Episode III’s Jedi Starfighters

With the recent Saga Legends release of two all-new Jedi Starfigther vehicles, From 4-LOM to Zuckuss is taking a look back at the previous incarnations of the Episode III spaceship.  So sit back, strap-in and put just your headpiece on (because apparently flight suits are not needed during the prequel ear?) as we fly through each release and reissue of the Jedi’s newest and last starfigther. The year is 2005 and the release of Star War Episode III: Revenge of the Sith saw our heroes following the Prequel Trilogy tradition of piloting different vehicles with each successive film.  Unlike the Original Trilogy where X-Wings and Falcons remained steadfast throughout the series, the prequels preferred to switch it up with each new installment.  In the opening [...]
