RIP Nien Nunb AKA Richard Bonehill

This week Richard Bonehill one of the actors who portrayed Nien Nunb in Return of the Jedi passed away.  Bonehill literally wore many hats during the filming of The Empire Strikes Back and Jedi. In addition to Lando's co-pilot, he portrayed multiple soldiers on both sides of the war. To see a complete listing of his characters, check out Bonehill's website. Tarkin’s Turn on Rebels

A few weeks ago we predicted that the next in the string of Original Trilogy characters to make an appearance on Star Wars Rebels would be Princess Leia.  Well this week it was revealed that the next guest star role will fall to none other than Grand Moff Tarkin. The Imperial Governor is enjoying a bit of a renaissance as he is making his animated debut just a few months after the release of his self-titled novel. Now just like Obi-Wan, Tarkin is not voiced by his original actor as Peter Cushing passed away in 1994. Although we are quite excited to see Stephen Stanton return to the character he perfected in The Clone Wars, when Tarkin was just a Captain. The Grand Moff's trip to Lothal will [...]

Star Wars and The Power of Costume Grand Opening Party

This past weekend we had the pleasure of attending the Grand Opening Party of the Smithsonian's newest touring exhibit "Star Wars and The Power of Costume". The event took place at Seattle's EMP (Experience Music Project) Museum which will be the home to this Lucasfilm exhibit until October. The party was attended by C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), the costume designer of Return of the Jedi (Aggie Guerard Rodgers), the host of The Comlink (Dave Collins), and the author of Star Wars Costumes (Brandon Alinger) to name a few. We attended the event with our good friends Criz Bee from JediBusiness.com and Tom Berges from IGrewUpStarWars.com where we met our other good friends Curt Hanks of SARLACC and costume collector and author Gus Lopez. Lopez, a Seattleite, holds the [...]

NY Toy Fair ’15 – What We Expect

Now that New York Toy Fair is just under 3 weeks away, we have begun speculating about what will be shown at the annual Hasbro Presentation. What we expect from Rebels Saga Legends Last week's Jedi Temple Archives reveal helped to answer some early questions about what type of figures we'll be getting in the next year. And the answer to that is clearly Original Trilogy centered as in JTA's reveal it was shown that we are getting 3 more Return of the Jedi figures, 1 Revenge of the Sith figure and 0 Star Wars Rebels figures past number SL14 AT-DP Driver. Yes of the 25 figures announced so far, only 8 are based on Star Wars Rebels, the line featured on the very [...]

Welcome to our newest feature where we will be spotlighting original Kenner (and Hasbro) designs and concepts that have appeared in other forms of media outside of the action figure line. Over the next few months we'll be looking at cameos in comic books, trading cards, novels, television shows, reference guides and much more. To kick-off our inaugural "Kenner Cameo" we are giving you a two-for-one; a Kenner and a Hasbro Cameo from the same source. From floor plans to fuel systems, quad laser cannons to escape pods this book leaves no Falcon stone uncovered. To find [...]

Star Wars in the Hands of Fans

On episode #10 of Rebels Recon "Inside Idiot's Array" we were provided a brief glimpse behind the editing process of Star Wars Rebels. In the featurette we see that editor Joe Elwood gets a little help from the first 12. Proudly displayed below his monitors you can see not only the first dozen Kenner action figures released but they are displayed on the Acton Display Stand. Also lurking in the shadows is an ITT (Imperial Troop Transporter) and a few extra vintage Jawas flanking an unsuspecting 12" R2. How great is it that all facets of Star Wars is now in the hands of the fans. From JJ Abrams, Jonathan Storey (The Disney Store's Vice President of Sales) and Rebels creators like Dave Filoni and Joe Elwood. [...]

Episode 7 Cameo in Star Wars #1

Did Marvel's Star Wars #1 just give us an appearance of an Episode 7 alien? Yesterday Marvel Comics returned to the galaxy far, far away for the first time in close to 30 years. Their return to publishing Star Wars comics was promoted at comic book shops across the country with "Welcome Home" parties that included free swag. The premiere issue of the ongoing series is set to break comic book records by selling 1 million copies. This was helped by the creation of about 100 different cover variants that were made available at numerous exclusive locations (our sympathies to completest collectors).  In our extremely biased opinion the best by far was the incredible cover by John Tyler Christopher which payed tribute to Kenner's vintage action figure line! Now in the story, which [...]
