Like many others we have been extremely busy these last few weeks since the debut of the now #1 movie of all time in the United States, The Force Awakens. As our Instagram photo boosts we have filled just about every minute of our spare time self-educating about this fantastic addition to the Star Wars saga.
As we have become more familiar with the characters, droids, beasts, ships and background aliens, our desire to see them in plastic form has only increased exponentially. To our delight, there have been some case-assortments that have popped up this past week over at Dorksidetoys.com which has fed our appetite for new figures. Below are the four soliciated waves which all include both new and reissued figures.
Wave 3 Snow/Desert

Now these figures are all but confirmed as they were leaked weeks ago on Amazon Canada despite not having been officially announced by Hasbro.

This wave is up for a bit of speculation as we are assuming the Kylo Ren must be a new release either by figure or cardback as the two previous versions were both released in the FOREST assortment. The Squad Leader figure is most likely a carded version of the figure released with Entertainment Earth’s exclusive Assault Walker. And Nien Nunb would be a brand new figure to the assortment.

Now this wave of new figures is what caused quite a buzz when they made a very brief and what must have been accidental appearance at retail. #REYGATE had collecting sites on notice as Disney and Lucasfilm (NOT HASBRO) sent out cease and desist warnings. We are curious though if this wave was misnumbered and if not then what is in the missing WAVE 5 (we are hoping for Jedi Master Luke).

Wave 7 finally brings us the next Inquisitor figure which was shown off at New York Comic-Con last year and two more new characters from TFA. It is nice to see that Kylo and Phasma being reissued as their previous popularity made them a bit scarce. It will be interesting to see how well they sell after fans have now seen the film and may harbor a grudge against Ren and be underwhelmed by Phasma’s part in the film.
As we speculated in the latest episode of Galaxy of Toys Podcast, where we debated the best and worst figures of 2015, all of these figures will most likely be shown at Toy Fair next month in New York City.
As stated previously, as have been partaking in our own crash course on all things The Force Awakens, we have started to ponder about what figures could be in store after the solicited waves above. To this end we have begun making lists of potential figures Hasbro could produce from the film over the next year or so. As there are more than you think, we’ll begin today with just the characters whom had a speaking part in the film.
Resistance

To Hasbro’s credit, despite having limited access to the film during this rushed production schedule they’ve captured a good number of figures with lines. Only about 15 or so remain and only 6 or more were significant in the film.
