We couldn't be more excited for Star Wars Rebels especially in regards to this early morning's debut of the extended trailer! Its fantastic to hear Jonathan Arnold Taylor back as Obi-Wan Kenobi and to see such Original Trilogy influences. But by far the most exciting thing for us about Rebels is the use of Kenner action figure line designs. In this trailer it is easy to make out the Kenner TIE Fighter ascetic as it has the smaller Solor Panels which the vintage toy company went with to keep costs down. Also featured are the "cooling fins" which Kenner featured on its Stormtrooper's E-11 blaster accessory. Despite the tons of information, both official and unofficial, that has dropped this week we are currently nowhere near the eye of the storm that will be released beginning on July 24th when San Diego Comic-Con kicks-off! This week SDCC released their program schedule and Starwars.com provided a breakdown of all the Star Wars goodness in store for attendees. Of highest priority for us will be Hasbro's Star Wars panel. Its been a fun roller-coaster of rumors and news over the last few weeks! As we have now met the cast for both Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Episode VII and celebrated our first "official" Star Wars Day last Sunday, we are starting to speculate once again about the what the future holds for the franchise and our beloved action figure line. So our first question was inspired by an image Paul Bateman (concept designer and student of Ralph McQuarrie) recently posted comparing Ewan McGregor and Alec Guinness to the recently announced Ep VII actor Domhall Gleeson. We here at From 4-LOM to Zuckuss can't help but to feel that we are picking up some familiar vibes from the cast of Star Wars Rebels. If the show's character chemistry and dynamics is anything like the ill-fated Firefly we'll be in for one fantastic ride. We have already pointed out in the past how the archetypes also follow a another group of rebels we are all quite fond of. With all of these elements combined, the debut of Star Wars Rebels has us as excited as we are for Episode VII's debut. Don't forget that the first trailer for Rebels will premiere this Sunday on May the Fourth during the news Lego Star Wars Yoda Chronicles episode! May the Figures be with you!
Not surprising news but still its nice to get a confirmation that the Star Wars Rebels line of action figures will be seeing some female additions. According to the May/June 2014 issue of Star Wars Insider, the upcoming animated series will include, "female protagonists Hera and Sabine." These ladies will round out the six main heroes of the series that have been revealed to date. In other Insider action figure news, the magazine is still running its offer of a free action figure with subscription. Although the publisher Titan shows Movie Heroes figures, some reports have surfaced online that subscribers have received The Vintage Collection figures instead. If there is one thing we as Star Wars fans have its trouble being patient for what's next. And we here at From 4-LOM to Zuckuss are no different. In many ways Toy Fair was painful as we learned about all the very cool things that are planned and then for many then told we had to wait two to three seasons for them. We have a feeling next year will be even worse as there is the potential that Episode VII merch will be advertised but then not released for another 11 months to coincide with its scheduled December 18th release date.
