The #RetroRedo Challenge! – UPDATE

The Wal*Mart Dilemma

This past week many collectors across the country have begun to find in stores and/or be delivered their Wal*Mart preorders of the exclusive Retro Collection wave two based on The Empire Strikes Back. For those finding them in stores, it appears only some Wal*Marts are placing these on pegs as many have chosen to simply stack them on the shelves. Regardless of the stocking of these figures they both appear to both be generally mint when found in stores and unfortunately for many to disappear from shelves fairly quickly. Stores appear to be getting one or two cases of the figures in this initial release. Prototype Edition Vader Variants

  Yesterday, our order from Target.com finally shipped to store and we were able to get our hands on a few Retro Collection Darth Vader (Prototype Edition) figures. This figure debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and was sold exclusively at the Entertainment Earth booth despite being a Target exclusive figure. Target.com had them in stock very briefly at the end of the August and just this week some brick-and-mortar stores in the country received some cases. Nevertheless, the figure has not shown up in great quantities much like the rest of the Retro Collection itself. More #MayTheFourth with the Retro Collection

This past weekend we were delighted to receive another special delivery for #MayTheFourth. Hasbro was kind enough to send us the full set of Target's upcoming exclusive Retro Collection figure set. The figures came packaged in a promo box which features images from the original vintage Action Display Stand from Kenner. After an early morning run to Free Comic Book Day to pick up the two Star Wars offerings from Marvel and IDW we returned home to open the gift set. Celebrate #MayTheFourth with the Retro Collection

This May the Fourth, Hasbro is celebrating the Saga with the upcoming release of the Retro Collection line of figures. Hasbro has sent us and their promotional partners a free special delivery "inspired by Kenner's iconic Early Bird Certificate Package." The cardboard mailer includes a replica of the sticker sheet included with the original Early Bird kit and an informational card about #MayTheFourth. The back of the package includes the press release information about the 3.75-inch Retro Collection figure assortment coming to Targets later this month.
