New Hasbro Toys use Vintage Kenner Designs!

Last Toy Fair Pablo Hidalgo made it clear that the new animated series Star Wars Rebels would be using some of Kenner's original action figure designs.  He even pointed out that Stormtrooper blasters in the show would sport the extra "fins" found on the barrel of Kenner's 3 3/4" version of the weapon.  But what he didn't tell us was that the actually Kenner design (which is much different than the blaster seen in the films and in Rebels) would also be used in the series.  Hasbro's newest toy line Star Wars Command, which is meant to recapture green army men playtime, depicts the Kenner Stormtrooper blaster on its Imperial Officers figurines. As lifelong collectors it is so exciting to see these designs come full circle and of course we [...]

New Toys, Videos & Displays but no Figures

Targets across the country have completed their "fall resets" (where they rearrange their aisles to make room for new merch and toy lines) and in the process vastly improved the Star Wars presence in their toy aisles. By adding large and impressive signage and new Star Wars Rebels, 6" The Black Series, Jaxx's 20" figures and Star Wars Command products they are geared up for bringing Star Wars to many a Christmas tree this winter.  But with this increased presence, not a new 3 3/4" figure is to be found. The only figures that appear to be showing up currently is the previously hard to find Mara Jade and Darth Plagueis wave of The Black Series. Now August is said to be the release month [...]

Tonight’s Disney XD Star Wars Line-Up

Don't forget that tonight the Disney XD Channel will be wishing, "May the Monday be with You" with a series of Star Wars themed episodes. Things get started with a Star Wars dream sequence episode of "Kickin It" at 7/6c. Then an encore presentation (and the Disney XD premiere) of Phineas and Ferb Star Wars at 7:30/6:30c. And finally a 15 minute "First Look" of Star Wars Rebels (which is rumored to included the first 7 minutes of the series) at 8:45/7:45c. Now in regards to action figures, if this was a few years ago when we had figures made from every EU (now Legends) property, we would have said it might be possible to get these animated versions of the OT heroes but in [...]

DarthMac’s Customs & Collection

This week I had the great pleasure of viewing Chris Moorehead’s home action figure display. He has just in the past few years begun creating a displayed collection despite collecting as a child and beginning anew with the modern line around 2005. He, like many collectors born in the 70’s and early 80’s, only collects Original Trilogy figures and I had the privilege of being only the second person to view his newly organized collection.  Chris has a great and purposeful display of both vintage and modern Star Wars figures.  What makes his collection really stand out is the amazing custom display pieces he has created.  Those who are active on forums at sites like Rebelscum.com, where he is better known has High Admiral “DarthMac”, [...]
