Toy Stable Toy Run with Jedibusiness.com

This past weekend Chris from Jedibusiness.com and Jake of From4-LOMtoZuckuss.com made a toy run to some of the more popular toy and antique shops south of Seattle. Always on the lookout for variations, holes in the collection and figure upgrades these two Star Wars figure completest had a lot of fun looking at what the area had to offer. For $15 and with the addition of a spare canopy, Jake ended up with an upgraded vintage "Battle Damaged' X-Wing Fighter minus the battle damage. The final leg of their run ended with a trip to the legendary Toy Stable (now officially called "Toy Stable's Attic").  The toy store, located literally among real working horse stables on the property of the previous owner Lynne Husted, has undergone [...]

New Hasbro Toys use Vintage Kenner Designs!

Last Toy Fair Pablo Hidalgo made it clear that the new animated series Star Wars Rebels would be using some of Kenner's original action figure designs.  He even pointed out that Stormtrooper blasters in the show would sport the extra "fins" found on the barrel of Kenner's 3 3/4" version of the weapon.  But what he didn't tell us was that the actually Kenner design (which is much different than the blaster seen in the films and in Rebels) would also be used in the series.  Hasbro's newest toy line Star Wars Command, which is meant to recapture green army men playtime, depicts the Kenner Stormtrooper blaster on its Imperial Officers figurines. As lifelong collectors it is so exciting to see these designs come full circle and of course we [...]

Kenner TIEs, ITTs and Cooling Fins in Star Wars Rebels!

We couldn't be more excited for Star Wars Rebels especially in regards to this early morning's debut of the extended trailer! Its fantastic to hear Jonathan Arnold Taylor back as Obi-Wan Kenobi and to see such Original Trilogy influences. But by far the most exciting thing for us about Rebels is the use of Kenner action figure line designs. In this trailer it is easy to make out the Kenner TIE Fighter ascetic as it has the smaller Solor Panels which the vintage toy company went with to keep costs down. Also featured are the "cooling fins" which Kenner featured on its Stormtrooper's E-11 blaster accessory. And finally, although not shown in the trailer but found in the just released Star Wars Rebels [...]

Vintage Nostalgia and T-Shirts by Graphic Designer Andrew Morley

We here at From 4-LOM to Zuckuss are complete suckers for nostalgia-inspiring Star Wars t-shirts.  So it goes without saying that we had to ask graphic designer Andrew Morley to share a little bit about himself, his action figure fandom and his fantastic new line of Kenner cardback t-shirts! Like most children of the 70's/80's I was a Star Wars fan... nothing strange... almost everybody my age was! I have fond memories of taking bus trips into town with my Grandmother, visiting the local toy store and having a real hard time choosing between which Star Wars figure I would get as a treat... often coming home with two, I imagine because my Grandmother could get me out of the store or get on with [...]

Jad Bean, “Turn Down for Hutt!”

Jad Bean is back with another great set of action figure themed t-shirts!  If you're not familiar with Jad's work then you'll want check out our interview with him we did last year.  Jad has provided us with a break down about this newest work to feature vintage Kenner Star Wars toys. "Because Action Figures" "This is me in ultimate troll mode. I love those memes that go around where it's a picture of Gandalf, with a quote from Yoda, attributed to Dumbledore, or other such nerd-rage-inducing combinations. I asked myself, how could I do that one better, and incorporate the 80's action figures that I love so much? I had just recently acquired a beautiful, complete vintage tauntaun; once I realized my '85 Snake Eyes would [...]

So much still to learn!

It never ceases to amaze us on the amount of knowledge that is discovered on a regular basis. One would think that after 35+ years, the amount of new information on our favorite little plastic space men might start to dry up but its great podcasts, blogs, and forums that continue to reveal fascinating facts and discoveries. The most recent episode of The SWCA Podcast (aka The 'Chive Cast Vintage Pod) which despite having a Lobot focus revealed pretty amazing fact about the Kenner's Jawa figure.  New Kenner documents obtained by Ross Cuddie and shared by Ron Salvador on the show, explain how the Jawa was originally intended to not have a cape or robe at all.  This makes perfect sense as the original sculpting of the figure [...]

New Pics from Artist Boutros77

Its always a good day when our e-mail includes picture updates from Carl BouMansour aka "Boutros77" of his amazing custom action figure dioramas!  For new readers, we featured Boutros77 in our Fans of Force Figures exclusive interview earlier this year.  The customizing genius is hard at work increasing his already impressive Jabba's Palace diorama and shared the following pictures with us. It goes without saying that we are big fans of his work.  We wish desperately Hasbro could take a note from Boutros77 as the amount and quality of playsets and diorama pieces in Hasbro's modern line is sorely lacking.  But we are entering a new era in Star Wars, so we will remain optimistic that with new movies and media, Hasbro will develop new [...]

Kenner X-Wings in Star Wars #18

While doing prep work for the next "issue" (episode) of The Star Wars Spinner Rack Podcast, which is the newest show on the Galaxy of Toys Broadcasting Network, we couldn't help but to notice a unique Rebel vehicle design.  On the cover of issue #18 of Brian Wood's Star Wars title appears an X-Wing which by all accounts should be very familiar to both vintage and modern Star Wars action figure collectors. Pictured to the right of Chewbacca's head is none other than a Kenner action figure version of the X-Wing Starfighter. It's Kenner origins are obvious due to its shorter fuselage, depressed R2-D2 dome (which causes the S-Foils to open) and shorter laser cannons. This mold was originally produced in 1978 and has seen multiple repaints and [...]
