This week we were treated to a special delivery from Hasbro in the form of a very long box! Finn, my 10-year-old, delivered it to my office had no idea what was inside but upon discovering it was Darth Revan’s Force FX Elite lightsaber he began jumping around and begging we open it immediately. Coincidentally, we had started play Knights of the Old Republic on the original Xbox the night before.

Now his excitement for something he didn’t even know existed was justified as this saber is awesome! For a family who can swim in Blade Builder Sabers from the last 5 years, this was an incredible upgrade to our saber arsenal. If you are unfamiliar with this latest addition to The Black Series saber collection, the press release is below:

STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES DARTH REVAN FORCE FX ELITE LIGHTSABER

(HASBRO/Ages 14 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $224.99/Available: Fall 2020)

Combining advanced LEDs and video game-inspired sound effects, the FORCE FX ELITE LIGHTSABER is most realistic FORCE FX LIGHTSABER yet. The real metal hilt on the STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES DARTH REVAN FORCE FX ELITE LIGHTSABER features design and deco based on DARTH REVAN’S iconic lightsaber featured in the STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC video game. Press buttons on the hilt to activate sound effects, progressive ignition, blaster deflection effect, wall-cutting effect, and purple-to-red color-changing blade effect. Proudly display this lightsaber on the included stand, with or without the removeable blades, and show off the included removable kyber crystal. Includes lightsaber, barrel plug, removable kyber crystal, and instructions. Requires 3 1.5V AA batteries, not included. Available at most major retailers.

Here are a few thoughts and images we have about the saber:

The packaging is sleek and well designed for storing your saber blade with on display.

The wall-cutting effect is worth the price of admission alone!

The hilt is well crafted, sturdy, and feels more like a prop replica than a toy.

The blade colors are vivid, both in well-lit and dimly-lit spaces.

The kyber crystal is mostly useful for a display piece and does nothing other than fill a space when inserted into the saber.

The display stand works really well and the saber effectively snaps into place with little fear of it falling off.

We have had a blast with this saber and for the last three nights, we have choreographed fights to take advantage of each the saber’s features. While we understand with its quality and value comes a higher price tag but for cosplay fans, KOTOR fans, or saber enthusiasts, this is a must-have.
