New Rebels Figures Coming!

USA Today  gives us our first official look at new Star Wars action figures since last October.  Ahoska Tano and Darth Vader aka the padawan and her Jedi Master will be coming to the Saga Legends line later this year. Now we know from the Rebels Recon for the season finale that her lightsabers shown here in inaccurate and will indeed be white to represent her non-allegencence to the Jedi nor Sith. These figures look great and we are excited to hopefully see more figures produced from Season 1! Check out Rebels Recon for more info about Season 1 and a peak at art form Season 2:

Vizago’s Vanishing Gun

It appears that Hasbro is pulling a few new tricks out of their bag. In the newest wave of Mission Series packs from the Rebels Saga Legends line Hasbro has created a holster which can fit a sidearm much bigger than the acutal holster. Here you can see Cikatro Vizago's blaster next to his holster. The blaster is clearly longer but once you place the pistol in the holster you can see that it fits completely into the holster. Hasbro's new design allows the weapon to go inside the figures leg thus keeping the accurate dimensions of the character's accessories as seen in the computer animated series. This is a simple yet very effective feature for this 5POA figure.  This takes us back to discovering that Kenner's Han [...]

Tarkin’s Turn on Rebels

A few weeks ago we predicted that the next in the string of Original Trilogy characters to make an appearance on Star Wars Rebels would be Princess Leia.  Well this week it was revealed that the next guest star role will fall to none other than Grand Moff Tarkin. The Imperial Governor is enjoying a bit of a renaissance as he is making his animated debut just a few months after the release of his self-titled novel. Now just like Obi-Wan, Tarkin is not voiced by his original actor as Peter Cushing passed away in 1994. Although we are quite excited to see Stephen Stanton return to the character he perfected in The Clone Wars, when Tarkin was just a Captain. The Grand Moff's trip to Lothal will [...]

Star Wars and The Power of Costume Grand Opening Party

This past weekend we had the pleasure of attending the Grand Opening Party of the Smithsonian's newest touring exhibit "Star Wars and The Power of Costume". The event took place at Seattle's EMP (Experience Music Project) Museum which will be the home to this Lucasfilm exhibit until October. The party was attended by C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), the costume designer of Return of the Jedi (Aggie Guerard Rodgers), the host of The Comlink (Dave Collins), and the author of Star Wars Costumes (Brandon Alinger) to name a few. We attended the event with our good friends Criz Bee from JediBusiness.com and Tom Berges from IGrewUpStarWars.com where we met our other good friends Curt Hanks of SARLACC and costume collector and author Gus Lopez. Lopez, a Seattleite, holds the [...]

NY Toy Fair ’15 – What We Expect

Now that New York Toy Fair is just under 3 weeks away, we have begun speculating about what will be shown at the annual Hasbro Presentation. What we expect from Rebels Saga Legends Last week's Jedi Temple Archives reveal helped to answer some early questions about what type of figures we'll be getting in the next year. And the answer to that is clearly Original Trilogy centered as in JTA's reveal it was shown that we are getting 3 more Return of the Jedi figures, 1 Revenge of the Sith figure and 0 Star Wars Rebels figures past number SL14 AT-DP Driver. Yes of the 25 figures announced so far, only 8 are based on Star Wars Rebels, the line featured on the very [...]

Star Wars in the Hands of Fans

On episode #10 of Rebels Recon "Inside Idiot's Array" we were provided a brief glimpse behind the editing process of Star Wars Rebels. In the featurette we see that editor Joe Elwood gets a little help from the first 12. Proudly displayed below his monitors you can see not only the first dozen Kenner action figures released but they are displayed on the Acton Display Stand. Also lurking in the shadows is an ITT (Imperial Troop Transporter) and a few extra vintage Jawas flanking an unsuspecting 12" R2. How great is it that all facets of Star Wars is now in the hands of the fans. From JJ Abrams, Jonathan Storey (The Disney Store's Vice President of Sales) and Rebels creators like Dave Filoni and Joe Elwood. [...]

Lando’s Back, Bet Leia’s next!

Last month we speculated about who would be next to guest star on Star Wars Rebels and yesterday it was confirmed. Lando Calrissian will be the next character to crossover from the films to the Disney XD animated series. Original actor Billy Dee Williams, to no surprise, will once again be voicing the character as he has done in just about every official appearance of the smuggler. As Williams states in this StarWars.com promo, his persona is Lando. With Calrissian's debut in Rebels it becoming all the more evident that the show is really working hard to introduce a new, a Clone Wars generation, to the characters of the Original Trilogy. As Lucasfilm moves ever so closer to their next film, making its debut 338 days from now, [...]

2014 the Year of 58

As 2014 comes to a close Hasbro will be shutting the books on their 19th year of producing Star Wars action figures.  It goes without saying that 2014, although better than 2013, was not a banner year for the toy producer’s Star Wars line. Distribution problems still existed, product offerings were very light, advertisement was minimal and public “collector” opinion about their 5 points of articulation didn’t improve. But despite these criticisms, Hasbro continued a long tradition of giving children, fans and collectors some great Star Wars toys to play with and collect! Now to hear which figure and vehicle we specially liked (and disliked) the best from 2014, you’ll need to make sure to listen to Episode 37 of Galaxy of Toys Podcast. While [...]
