Over the past month, the Retro Collection wave of The Empire Strikes Back figures (which currently are Wal*Mart exclusives) have arrived at many stores and mailboxes across the country. The six figures in the wave, which include near-Kenner replicas of Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker (Bespin), Yoda, Lando Calrissian, Han Solo (Hoth) and Leia (Hoth), have become highly sought after not just for their nostalgia factor but also due to the poor quality online orders are arriving in and lack of any other new 3 3/4″ figures currently on the shelf.
Just like last year’s Star Wars wave of Retros, the wave was accompanied by a reissued version of a vintage board game. And once again the game included an all-new vintage-inspired figure. Luke Skywalker (Snowspeeder) is a figure that was never released in the vintage line and is a welcomed addition to many vintage Kenner collections.
Now the board game, Hoth Ice Planet Adventure Game was originally released in 1980 and has been re-released by Hasbro Games with great detail including the fantastic picture of children playing the game on the back. And it is the images on the box which brings us to our challenge.
To celebrate not only the 40th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back but also the release of the fantastic Retro Collection we are hosting the #RetroRedo Challenge! In collaboration with our good friends at Washington State Summer Con, we are challenging collectors, fans, toy photographers and kids to recreate your own version of the classic images on the box! In order to give folks plenty of time, in case you need to order a game from Amazon (who currently has them in stock and on sale for $19.82), all image submissions will not be due for three weeks.

No challenge is complete without a prize and so we will be awarding a prize box containing the three prizes to the winning entry. Over the next three weeks, we will announce a new prize each week. Without a doubt, the number one hottest figure in the latest Retro line, and just about any wave containing him since 1979, is Boba Fett. And that is why he will be our first giveaway for week one!
