After a good week of collecting submissions for Hasbro’s 6″ Star Wars” The Black Series Fan Choice Poll the results are in!
- 1st Place (6 points) – Darth Revan
- 2nd Place (5 points) – Starkiller
- 3rd Place (4 points) – Obi-Wan “Ben” Kenobi (A New Hope)
- 4th Place (3 points) – Asajj Ventress
- 5th Place (2 points) – Captain Rex
- 6th Place (1 point) – Gamorrean Guard
Nominees were gathered from submissions posted to our official Facebook and Twitter pages as well as sent to us via email. As one can see, the general populace of current collectors are still yearning for Expanded Universe or Legends characters. Our top two nominees stem from two different video game sources who are not a part of the new continuity. Another two (Asajj and Rex) are directly pulled from the extreme popular and much missed The Clone Wars animated series. And the final two include film versions of one hero character and one semi-background character.
What does all this say about the desire of the current Star Wars Hasbro collector? Are they worn out so quickly by Disney and Lucasfilm’s focus on the Original Trilogy and long for something outside of Episodes IV, V and VI? Do fans now spend more time gaming or watching TV than they do watching films thus their desire for figures from outside the OT? Regards of the answer, much like our good friends over at Jedibusiness.com have found as well: EU and Legends characters are in great demand!
Next steps, once Hasbro receives each participating site’s six top nominees, they will then tally them all up and put the overall top six on a ballot on StarWars.com. There fans will able to vote on July 2nd for a final time from the six overall nominees.
Then on July 10th, during Hasbro’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the winner of the StarWars.com ballot will be announced. Do to the the average turn arounnd time for a Star Wars action figure, it would be safe to say you could expect this figure in fall 2016 to hit store shelves.
Until next time,
May the Figures be with you!
