With New York Toy Fair just three weeks away, it’s that time of year where folks begin speculating about what we can expect to be revealed at the annual toy event. Now before you go too deep into the wishing well of 2020, we thought we’d remind you of what has been officially announced to date and what Hasbro has planned for the reset of this year.

The Vintage Collection

April

  • VC45  Clone Trooper (PhotoReal Reissue)
  • VC 164  Cara Dume
  • VC165  Remnant Stormtrooper
  • VC166  The Mandalorian

Now with the success of The Mandalorian, of course, it only makes sense that each of these figures is released this year. Now while the Clone Trooper may feel out of place, you never know what familiar faces from The Prequel Trilogy will show up in second season.

June

  • VC04  Luke Skywalker (PhotoReal Reissue)
  • VC06  C-3PO (PhotoReal Reissue)
  • VC47  Lando Calrissian (PhotoReal Reissue)
  • VC50  Han Solo (PhotoReal Reissue)

With the 40th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back happening this May the reissue of Bespin Luke and Han may perfect sense. The Lando is most likely motivated by the General’s appearance in The Rise of Skywalker. And the reasoning for 3PO could be applied to either of those trains of logic.

September

  • VC27  Wicket (PhotoReal Reissue)
  • VC86  Darth Maul (PhotoReal Reissue)
  • VC92  Anakin Skywalker (PhotoReal Reissue)
  • VC103  Obi-Wan Kenobi (PhotoReal Reissue)

The return of The Clones Wars in February is justification enough for the release of not only Anakin and Obi but also Maul as he too will be featured in Season 7. Wicket like Lando is mostly like due to his cameo at the end of The Rise of Skywalker.

Now officially, that is all that has been announced but rumors abound that we could be getting a vehicle that was seen in The Mandalorian. But with the anniversary of ESB, who knows what larger items Hasbro could announce.

Retro Collection

Online e-tailers have just begun to receive cases of last year’s Target exclusive and hard-to-find line of vintage-styled figures. No official word on if a second wave for Star Wars is coming but it sounds like again in conjunction with the 40th Anniversary a new Empire-based wave could be a possibility.

The Bounty Collection

May 25th

  • The Child 2-pack #1
  • The Child 2-pack #2
  • The Child 2-pack #3

It’s Baby Yoda, nuff said.

Galaxy of Adventures

  • Boba Fett
  • Darth Maul
  • Sith Jet Trooper
  • Yoda

Hasbro is continuing their line of new 5″ figures but the question is how long will this scale which appears to be peg and shelf warming last. Three of the character choices tie nicely into both the 4oth of ESB and/or the return of TCW and the last makes sense for the home video release of The Rise of Skywalker.

The Black Series

February

  • Count Dooku
  • Clone Commander Bly
  • Knight of Ren
  • Zorii Bliss
  • Heavy Battle Droid (GameStop Exclusive)
  • Jedi Knight Revan (GameStop Exclusive)

Two characters from The Rise of Skywalker, two characters that could appear in The Clone Wars Season 7 and two that jive with their respective exclusive retailer.

March

  • Anakin Skywalker
  • Battle Droid
  • Kit Fisto
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi
  • Plo Koon

The Attack of the Clones receives some much overdue love in this wave as The Black Series has shied away from the Prequels when compared to the other films in the Saga.

June

  • The Child

June can’t get here fast enough, because again, Baby Yoda.

Now there are a handful of characters we can assume are coming based on a certain package artist’s accidental leak but the future of those figures is unknown at this time but good money would be on them being announced at Toy Fair.

HyperReal

  • Luke Skywalker (Bespin)

While it is really difficult to know or tell if the HyperReal Vader was successful or not since it never made it to brick and mortar store shelves but nevertheless the second release is coming later this anniversary year.

In addition to all of this, Hasbro has a few larger Baby Yoda dolls in the works and some nice additions to their high-end lightsaber lines but outside of that, no plans so far for the return of the 3 3/4″ line nor the continuation of Micro Force.  We are really looking forward to this year’s offerings and reveals by Hasbro as we love a lot of their other lines as well and the return of G.I. Joe makes us very excited as does the new War for Cybertron – Earthrise Transformers line.

Until the next time,

May the Figures be with you!
