guide_to_eccc

Each year around this time, Seattle plays host to one of the biggest comic conventions in the country. Emerald City Comicon which is now in its 15th year, brings out fandom of many different genres but of course, if you are reading this you most likely fall on the Star Wars side of fandom which is why are proud to once again present to you our fourth annual Your Star Wars Guide to Emerald City Comicon! As in years past, our goal is to help provide you with the most Star Wars-infused convention experience possible (outside of attending a Star Wars Celebration convention, which we will be in Orlando this April as well)! ECCC continues to grow each year and expand its offerings to fandom so we know it can be easy to become overwhelmed and miss out on all the Star Wars fun the show has to offer but no need to worry because your friends at From4-LOMtoZuckuss.com are here to help Star Warsify your trip to the Emerald City’s largest comic convention.

2017-02-24_0029

In his fourth straight year of presenting at ECCC, Jake Stevens will once again be hosting a panel on Star Wars action figures with his Galaxy of Toys Podcast co-host and fellow Seattle Area Lucasfilm Collectors Club (SARLACC) member Ryan Beise. The presenting duo will host a panel detailing the unusual and zany Star Wars action figures that have been made in the franchise’s 40-year history entitled “Star Wars Toys: Did they Really Make that Toy? Some of the Oddities and Obscure Toys Hasbro has Made” Join these lifelong Star Wars collectors for an hour long look at stranger side of Kenner and Hasbro action figures and toys.

Now before we begin, we’d highly suggest again this year that first and foremost, before heading to the con to download the ECCC app on your smartphone or device as it will allow you schedule any or all of the following you’re interested in attending and seeing.

Mar 04, 2017, 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
TCC 304

Star Wars collecting is a vast hobby with collectors all over the world amassing memorabilia for the past 40 years. The sheer amount of items and information can be overwhelming to those getting started. Gus Lopez, author of five books on Star Wars collecting, will take you through his personal journey from beginner to advanced collector. Using examples from Gus’ experience, he’ll cover how to connect locally with other like-minded collectors while also building an international network of collectors for trading and advice in specific areas of the hobby. Learn about places to buy, books to read, and forums to join. Hear about some amazing discoveries and the conditions that enabled some of those opportunities to happen. Gus will share information about events and conventions where other collectors meet and offer tips for finding Star Wars collectibles while traveling. Finally, every Star Wars collector has a focus and a budget. Gus will walk through examples about how to build a theme around a collection while not blowing a budget. Even amazing Star Wars pieces can be found on a shoestring budget if you know what, where, and how to look, and Gus will share some recent examples to illustrate.
