One week ago, the Star Wars Brand Team at Hasbro officially launched their third crowdfunding project, The Rancor. Just as we have done in the past with both the Sail Barge and the Razor Crest, we are keeping close track of the project’s momentum and hopefully success. What makes this project different from its Star Wars predecessors is both that it is the first Star Wars HasLab in 6″ scale and it is running alongside not one but two other HasLab projects.
To gauge whether having competing HasLabs is a factor, we are charting the progress of all three current projects and comparing them to both the barge and Razor Crest. We would assume there is some carry-over between collectors and brands (we for example backed the Skystriker) which makes running these together during the Christmas shopping season, a curious move by Hasbro.
When closely compared to the two previous Star Wars HasLabs, the Rancor is appearing to perform more similarly to Jabba’s Sail Barge which took nearly the entire campaign to fund as opposed to the Razor Crest which was fully backed immediately. The choice to not reveal any stretch goals is a bit of a head-scratcher as the Skystriker showed all three at launch and the Proton Pack provided early-backers a bonus item. Hasbro did show that the first stretch goal will be unlocked at 11,000 backers but as of this article, that feels very far away.
Make sure to follow is our socials, as we’ll be posting our Rancor Keeping data analytics on a regular basis. In the meantime, Hasbro has provided us with the official press images which you can peruse below:
Until a stretch goal is revealed,
May the Figures be with!
