Fan First Tuesday Press Release – May the Fourth Edition

Yesterday Hasbro Pulse contributed to the fun of May the Fourth with a Livestream on their official YouTube channel. During the event, they announced a number of new figures from both The Black Series and The Vintage Collection. The 6" series welcomed all-new figures to the line while the 3 3/4" line presented the equivalent of a best-of series with a number of repaints and reissues. Fans of the TVC line will be excited that three more figures from The Ninty-Six campaign are being released. A majority of the figures announced yesterday are indeed retailer exclusives so your mileage will vary greatly on actual online availability. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week

Not only is this week a major holiday to many Star Wars fans, but it is also Teacher Appreciation Week! In a year where teachers have had to relearn their entire jobs while keeping kids engaged online at home and safe when coming to schools, it is important to not forget them this May. My amazing wife who is the Executive Director of a small non-profit which works to improve and strengthen the teaching profession tasked me with creating an image for her newsletter. As a public middle school teacher myself, I have seen the sacrifice, frustration, triumphs, and tears this past year has caused for teachers and students alike and so to all my fellow educators out there, while I know so many of [...]

#TimeForTonnika Petition

We are happy to be supporting our friends at Victoria's Cantina in the #TimeForTonnika campaign. You can learn about this MIA Star Wars character from Victoria's YouTube interview with the actress below and of course you can help by signing this petition at Change.org in order to get Hasbro's attention on this missing figure! It's #TimeForTonnika. For decades, fans have been asking Hasbro to produce 3.75" action figures of the Tonnika Sisters from the world-famous Cantina sequence in the original Star Wars. In 2017, they placed fourth in Hasbro's official Fan Choice poll for Star Wars The Vintage Collection. In the past, there have been legal hurdles preventing at least one of these figures from becoming a reality. But that has changed. Angela Staines, who [...]

May the 4th Day 2021 [Update]

It is that time again, when the calendar switches out of April, to begin our month of Star Wars love! We like to proclaim the whole month of May is a time to celebrate Star Wars, as it holds not only the May the 4th holiday, but anniversaries for most of the films as well. This year we are starting our holiday celebrations on Monday and will continue to celebrate the Saga through Wednesday! There are those who turn up their nose at the fan-originated holiday which has now become a staple for retailers and Disney/Lucasfilm but we love any chance to pay love and respect to the franchise that has brought us some much joy over the past four decades. Although we will still [...]

The Clone Wars Line – A “Basic” Disappearing Act

When The Clone Wars cartoon hit theaters in 2008 it was met with a huge toy line push which only continued to grow stronger in the following two years. The animated series, which came to an end last year with its Season 7, introduced a set of new characters to fans and a new animated style of figure for collectors. The proceeding Clone Wars line based on the micro-series also had a line of hyper-animated figures but it was nothing compared to the mega-hit TCW eventually became. No Star Wars animated property (Droids, Ewoks, Clone Wars, Rebels & Resistance) even when combined can match the massive line that The Clone Wars series produced. The Clone Wars action figure line came to be around the time [...]

Begun The Black Series Clone Wars Have

Today Starwars.com revealed the next Lucasfilm 5oth Anniversary line which consists of four new Black Series figures on 2008 Clone Wars cardbacks. This commemorative line pays respect to the highly popular animated series whose sequel series is set to be released next month on May the 4th. The four figures include Anakin and Obi-Wan from Season 1 and Clone Pilot Hawk and ARC Trooper Echo from Season 4. Of these four figures, only Hawk has never been released before in action figure scale, as each of the others were included in the 3 3/4" scale. Hasbro did make the Clone Pilot sculpt that Hawk uses in the original Clone Wars line but they never released the Hawk deco. These figures are set to be Target [...]

Blue Leader Paging R2-R9

In our interview yesterday with the Hasbro Star Wars Brand Team we asked which Astromech they suggested collectors use with recently announced General Merrick's X-Wing Fighter when it is released later this Fall. This question stems from the fact that this figure has never been released in the 3 3/4" scale nor any line in actuality, not even LEGO. So Patrick was kind enough to do some research and check with some Hasbro designers and supplied us with an answer: R2-R9   R2-R9 was first released in 1999 and was an exclusive figure packed in with the Episode I Naboo Royal Starship Blockade Cruiser/Playset. The droid was simply called an R2 Unit on the packaging and as you can see it features a red body [...]
