ep7logosq-star-wars-subtitle-revealed-star-wars-episode-vii-theWell its been quite the week for Episode VII and the future of Star Wars films!

Monday, June 2nd – Saw 40+ images taken from the same set director JJ Abrams previously revealed in his Force for Change campaign video.  The photos appear to have been taken purposely as many of the subjects were smiling and posing.  The images were “leaked” by TMZ and can be found on their website.

Also that day StarWars.com announced two additional cast remembers for Episode VII.

Lupita Nyong’o joins the recently announced cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. This year, her breakthrough performance in 12 Years a Slave earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Gwendoline Christie, currently starring in the hit television series Game of Thrones as Brienne
of Tarth, has also been cast in the production. She can next be seen in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

Speculation has run amok with Nyong’s casting as many believe she would be perfect as Asajj Ventress.  No official word on who she or Christie nor any other new cast member will be playing has been released yet.table

Tuesday, June 3rd – TMZ returns with a new set of photos but this time of a very iconic ship from The Original Trilogy in various stages of construction.  This time around the photos lack any crew or extras giving them a true “leaked” feel.

Wednesday, June 4th – JJ takes to twitter to offer his own leak and to poke fun at TMZ. Could this mean a new sculpt will be on the horizon or will Hasbro reissue the extremely still impressive version from The Legacy Collection?

Also that day, Star Wars.com announced the second director who will be helmming one of the standalone Star Wars films to be Josh Trank.  Trank is known for his “found-footage” style of filmmaking as seen in his film Chronicle and here in a fan film he made in 2007.

This makes two directors, both Abrams and Trank, who are fellow fanboys of The Saga!

Thursday, June 5th – Mark Hamill makes his debut at Disneyworld’s Star Wars Weekends and poses with the Mouse that now signs his paychecks.  What’s great to note is that Luke Skywalker is clearly sporting a beard very reminiscent of his master Obi-Wan Kenobi!

We couldn’t help but to have some fun with the dreadful thought that Mickey could be casts as a Jedi played by motion-capture actor Andy Serkis!

With Episode VII still 18 months away, 30 months for our first standalone film, we are sure to see Star Wars leaks both official and unofficial gradually increase into a fever pitch which may rival that of Episode I. Nevertheless, it means more Star Wars which is a good thing as it will provide new figures, creatures, ships and hopefully playsets for us all to enjoy! Until next time,

May the Figures by with you!
