Vintage Kenner Figures in Toy Story 4

This past weekend, Toy Story 4 made its debut and so did the animated versions of two of our favorite vintage Kenner action figures! As we discussed earlier this year, Walrus Man and Ben "Obi-Wan" Kenobi from 1978 are featured in the latest addition to the Toy Story franchise. SPOILER WARNING: While their appearance is very brief it is reminiscent of their encounter in the Mos Eisley Cantina. When Woody enlists his old sweetheart Bo in a mission to recover his Bonnie's new "toy" Forky, they visit a pinball machine which acts like a speakeasy club for lost toys. On their way to recruit Duke Kaboom they past a dismembered Zebra plush who sits next to Old Ben and Panda Boba reenacting their first interaction. In [...]

Toy Story 4’s Kenner Cameo

On an outing to catch Disney's latest animated film adaptation, Dumbo, with the kids, we new to keep a very special eye out in case the latest Toy Story 4 trailer played. We give full credit to the eagle-eyed Dan The Pixar Fan and the numerous folks that gave us the heads up on this cameo. As That Junkman points out, the appearance of two Kenner action figures happens at time-code 1:38 in the trailer which is yet another Star Wars nod. For those well-versed in the vintage line, there is no mistaking the white hear and brown cape of a Kenner Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi. And as for his "friend", could the inclusion of a Kenner Walrus Man be foreshadowing as to what type of establishment [...]

The White Witch Uncovered

Today, our friend and Star Wars prototype and prop collector shared one of his most prized acquisitions from the past year. In his post on social media, Lopez revealed the long-thought-lost prototype for the canceled White Witch vehicle from the Droids animated series toy line. View this post on Instagram #BestOf2018 This piece is a significant discovery for Star Wars toy collecting. It’s the White Witch vehicle from the Droids series, which was designed but never produced for that toy line. We know from Kenner photography that Kenner made at least a few samples of these, but for many years collectors did not know if any of those samples still existed. This prototype is the same one used in some of the Kenner photography based [...]
