Press Release – Skywalker Strikes Con Exclusive

Today, Hasbro has provided us with a brand new reveal featuring this year's international convention exclusive: Luke Skywalker (Skywalker Strikes). This new 6" Black Series figure includes additional accessories that are sourced not only from A New Hope but also from recent Marvel Comics. This exclusive will "be available at key conventions this Fall including MCM London Comic-Con, Paris Comic-Con, Lucca Comics & Games, Salon Manga Barcelona, and Madrid Comic-Con (in limited quantities, while supplies last)". Hasbro is continuing Lucasfilm/Disney's focus on Luke Skywalker for focus of their Episode IX campaign. Lots of companies (Hasbro included) are releasing product under the title "Skywalker Saga". And while one could debate which Skywalker, Luke or Anakin, is truly the basis of the Saga, Luke appears to be the [...]

Another Super7 Star Wars Tribute Figure

At this past San Diego Comic-Con, Super7, maker of Reaction 3 3/4" figures, released their follow-up to last year's Space Wars Headhammer figure. At the mega-convention, Robot "Maria" from the 1927 black and white sci-fi film Metropolis made her debut on a Star Wars: The Power of the Force tribute card.  While the films have no connection to each other, a connection concerning the character of Maria can obviously be made. She was the inspiration George Lucas and company used with creating our favorite protocol droid. To honor this connection, Super7 not only made a 3 3/4" figure of her on a POTF cardback with coin but they managed to make her in a way that even Hasbro claims to not be able to; she's vac metalized. [...]

The Future of 3 3/4″ Figures?

Anyone who follows us on social media or has heard Jake Stevens on any of his podcast appearances of late knows we have great concern about the future of the 3 ¾” line. With no confirmation of a The Rise of Skywalker line from Hasbro, early leaks of a new 5” Galaxy of Adventures line based on Episode IV, poor sales of non-Vintage Collection toys and the continued popularity of the 6” Black Series line, we are confident our pessimism is not unfounded. So where exactly does this leave us and those like lifelong 3 ¾” collector Jake? If you ask Mr. Stevens, he will tell you he feels like he has been dumped after 41 years. Like an unwanted break-up that has long been seen coming [...]

Tune in and join the fun on Episode #81! On this week's show, Jake Stevens returns as we take a look at new news ahead of Triple Force Friday, The Mandalorian in Entertainment Weekly, when Black Series is white and new finds in I Wanted Everything. Prototype Edition Vader Variants

Yesterday, our order from Target.com finally shipped to store and we were able to get our hands on a few Retro Collection Darth Vader (Prototype Edition) figures. This figure debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and was sold exclusively at the Entertainment Earth booth despite being a Target exclusive figure. Target.com had them in stock very briefly at the end of the August and just this week some brick-and-mortar stores in the country received some cases. Nevertheless, the figure has not shown up in great quantities much like the rest of the Retro Collection itself. Now so far today, there have been 18 different versions of the Prototype Vader due to its different color parts. If one was going by the color of the head, [...]

While today we are exactly one month away from Triple Force Friday, today is also the 4th anniversary of the very first #ForceFriday. September 4th, 2015 was the official release of The Force Awakens merchandise. The build up to the event was on par with The Phantom Menace back in May of 1999! The current form of #ForceFriday began 4-years-ago but the idea behind it began in 1999 with Toys 'R' Us's Midnight Madness. To date, there have been the following celebrations of new movie merch: Midnight Madness May 1999 - The Phantom Menace May 2002 - Attack of the Clones April  2005 - Revenge of the Sith August 2008 - The Clone Wars #ForceFriday September 2015 - The Force Awakens #RogueFriday September 2016 - [...]
